Alma Jean's is the real deal. Southern cooking at its finest. Between me and my daughter we had fish, squash, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese and apple pie. We loved it ALL... especially the fish.
We were there on a Sunday after church. It was very busy but they have a huge dining area and there was always an empty table waiting. Sunday's finest were on display for what had to be the finest southern cooking in Mississippi. Restaurant was very clean and bathroom was nice and clean.
The folks running this place definitely have pride it what they are doing here. It showed with the quality of their food, the staff were all handling their business and they are friendly and accommodating.
PS. Get the sweet tea too!!!
PSS. Tater sauce is so dang good!
Definitely recommend! -

In a world of chain restaurants and fast food places, Alma Jean's is an excellent alternative! Great Southern food as it should be served. Serving up Southern staples with a menu that changes daily. We found plenty to eat when we went -- such as fried chicken, meat loaf, catfish, chicken and dumplings, blackeyed peas, green beans, lima beans, corn, mashed potatoes, rice and gravy, corn bread, and so much more. It's served cafeteria style. The line moves quickly and you point out what you'd like. Excellent food and friendly service. Great to see this new addition in Senatobia. And did I mention perfect sweet tea!

If you want good home cooking, like the kind my mother, my aunt Nancy, Meemaw Porter and Aunt Faye used to make after church on Sunday and on holidays, drive to Senatobia, MS and get in line at Alma Jeans Southern Kookin on Norfleet just off Highway 4. Cafeteria style home cooking that puts Piccadilly and Cracker Barrel to shame. You may as well wear loose pants and ask the Lord to forgive your gluttony in advance. To all my city slicker friends from Memphis, it's worth the drive. Whoo, I need a nap and an EKG.

I ate here today and had a wonderful lunch. The pork chop had an amazing flavor to them. They were a little tough which is why they got a 4 instead of a 5 rating. The rice with gravy and the green beans were great. Simple country cooking is done well here. I know I will come back and try the chicken . It looked great. I would recommend eating here to all.

Alma Jeans has good soul food. I admit the sides could be better (they are all canned or frozen), but they have great fried chicken! My girlfriend liked her catfish meal too. It's a great place for lunch, but I wouldn't go for a date since it's cafeteria style. Make sure to check the hours before you come because they have odd hours.
